Twisting natural silk is a process made of many phases which can be summarized as: dipping, spooling, doubling, twisting, winding.

To make the raw silk
in skeins workable it requires to be "soaked" which means impregnate it in a oil emusion made of a special animal fat called "bozzina" and of a fleeting dye useful to mark the various lots and the different types of yarn. After this operation the skeins must be squeezed and posed on special trolleys to dry.

When the silk thread is dry it must be "spooled", it means that the sekins are winded by reels collecting the thread on flanged spools.

The thread "spooled" in this way is combined with other heads to give it the required "thickness". It is an operation of extreme precision and attention beacuse it needs to verify continuously that the tensions of each single head are all the same, in order to avoid a defective yarn, and that all the heads required are present.

At this point the yarn is charged on the twisting machines for being twisted around itself for as many twists square meter as are required for the type of yarn which must be produced, in order to give it: brightness or opacity
, softness or crinkling. At the end of this operation, the torsion must be "fixed" and for this reason the reels of yarn are put on trolleys and placed in surge tank otherwise called "brova" for being vaporized.

In this phase of the production the yarn is winded again, which meas it is repackaged on spools for warping, weaving or on
perforated reels, ready for the tincture. During this phase the yarn go through electronic devices called "slubcatcher" that, cutting the defective thread, allow to the operator to intervene eliminating all the imperfections of the raw material, and also all of those which were incurred during the different processes of the pruduction. In this way we are able to supply a very high quality product.
